History

With construction beginning in 1965, the Marina Aquatic Center replaced a wooden boathouse structure on La Ballona Creek with a cinder-block boathouse at its current location and expanded its offerings to include sailing.

1967 – Construction of Dock and the addition of the north boat bay to original 1965 boathouse.

1983 – Shipping containers and a small trailer served as the MAC’s offices and storage.

Post-1984 – Installation of new trailers (which were previously used for Los Angeles Olympics)

Today – With the recent renovation of the office and class trailers, the installation of turf and a dedicated seating area, the Marina Aquatic Center continues to evolve and improve to meet the needs of UCLA’s students, staff, alumni, and the general community.
